Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments at Twin Cedars Holistic Health combine the wisdom of traditional Chinese acupuncture with specialized facial, abdominal, breast and cellulite-targeted acupuncture to help you look and feel healthy and rejuvenated. Cosmetic Acupuncture is a true form of anti-aging medicine as it works internally to optimize your health and manage your stress while concurrently improving the appearance of your skin. Cosmetic acupuncture is additionally a safe and natural alternative to more invasive procedures. This treatment is covered by most extended health plans if you have acupuncture coverage.

Here at Twin Cedars Holistic Health, we offer several Cosmetic Acupuncture protocols to suit your needs:

  1. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture + Facial Cupping, Facial Gua Sha, Face Massage & Jade Rolling
  2. Cellulite Reduction Acupuncture: Buttocks, Thighs and Upper Arms
  3. Abdominal Detoxification Acupuncture
  4. Breast Lift and Enhancement Acupuncture & Cupping

Although stand-alone treatments are offered, we recommend a course of 10-12 treatments in order to see lasting results.

During a facial rejuvenation appointment, very thin, disposable needles tailored to be precise are inserted into the face which stimulates qi and blood circulation and causes micro-damage to moisturize and firm the skin. Facial acupuncture increases collagen and elastin production for heightened muscle tone and elasticity. Fine needles trigger the body to repair itself and the resulting cell regeneration fills out fine lines and wrinkles and activates your circulatory and lymphatic system which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, nourishing skin from the inside out. The result is a healthy glowing complexion. Additional benefits include reduced jaw tension, and a reduction in stress and anxiety.

Your therapist will include facial cupping, facial gua sha and massage, jade rolling and the use of an organic facial oil at her discretion, dependent on client needs.

During a cellulite reduction appointment, needles invigorate the skin and meridian systems. Fine needles that promote movement and circulation are inserted into the buttocks and along the inner and outer thighs to firm and tone the buttocks, break up cellulite and allow the body to naturally metabolize it. Needles are retained for 20-40 minutes depending on need. Afterwards, gua sha and or cupping may be applied to the outer thighs, shins and the back of the legs to encourage the body to break up and process the cellulite and to facilitate lymphatic drainage.

Fine needles are inserted into the fatty tissue of the abdomen and love handle region to draw qi and blood to the area and encourage the metabolism of toxins and adipose tissue. Distal points are included along arm and leg meridians to facilitate whole body circulation and metabolism while supporting health and well-being. Afterwards, abdominal massage is performed to facilitate digestion and lymph drainage and encourage the body’s natural detoxification process.

The abdominal acupuncture protocol is a complement to a healthy weight loss program. It can reduce dysmenorrhea and peri-menopausal symptoms, and aid in postpartum weight loss and uplifting the belly. Additionally this treatment can be very helpful for chronic fatigue, fertility issues, digestive disorders and can also reducing scarring from Cesarean section.  Added benefits including the building of core strength, which aids in the resolution of back pain.

Fine needles surround the breast region, to draw qi and blood to the area, improve blood circulation, prevent nodules and encourage the breakdown of lumps and cysts. This is an excellent treatment for those who experience breast tenderness as part of their monthly cycle, and for postpartum nursing mothers. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family and are seeking non-invasive prevention, this may be the treatment for you.  Gentle cupping may be applied for those seeking natural, non-surgical breast enlargement and enhancement.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is fat with a dimpled appearance frequently prominent on thighs, buttocks and upper arms.  Cellulite is a cosmetic condition rather than a medical problem and can occur in both men and women. Poor circulation of blood and lymph due to aging, excess fat, lack of exercise or fluid retention contributes to cellulite formation. Cellulite can be caused by weight gain or simply by the stretching of collagen fibres which lose elasticity causing connective tissue to stretch in some areas and tighten in others, and fat cells to bulge out.  As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin so it slackens and the appearance of cellulite can become more prominent.

How Acupuncture Works to Treat Cellulite

The fact that cellulite needs to be treated from both the inside and the outside makes it a perfect condition to treat for Chinese medicine practitioners. Acupuncture improves blood circulation, reduces stress, and detoxifies the body by improving the metabolic function of body cells. Acupuncture targets cellulite at its source, by nourishing connective skin tissues inside and out.

How Many Cosmetic Acupuncture Treatments Do I Need?

It typically take somewhere between 4 and 6 sessions until you see significant benefits from the needling. However we recommend 10 to 12 weekly or bi-weekly treatments in total. It varies a lot person to person as everyone responds a differently and some more strongly than others. Results can last up to 2 years – with maintenance sessions 1-3 times a year.

Can I Receive Cosmetic Acupuncture If I’ve Have Botox?

Yes!  However definitely not on the same day as this could cause the fillers to migrate.  We recommend you wait 3 weeks after receiving botox before booking your Cosmetic Acupuncture appointment.

Do you Accept Extended Health Benefits for Acupuncture?

Our Cosmetic Acupuncture Body Sculpting & Cellulite Reduction treatments are covered by most extended health plans if you have coverage for acupuncture. If you are looking to naturally boost the look of your skin and de-stress you body, Cosmetic Acupuncture may be an excellent option for you.
