Gavin Larsen is co-founder of Twin Cedars Holistic Health and a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) and Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (R.TCM.P.), certified to practice acupuncture and Chinese herbology by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia. He earned his five-year Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC with studies in classical acupuncture, Chinese herbalism, cupping therapy, Tui Na massage, postural realignment, emotional health, dietary and lifestyle considerations.
Through eight years of comprehensive study and practical experience, Gavin has witnessed Traditional Chinese Medicine provide an incredibly beneficial influence on people’s lives, including his own. Gavin’s first experience with Chinese medicine involved the decoction of Raw Chinese herbs for 3 months straight. After just one month his stubborn eczema was completely resolved.
Gavin understands that our genes hold the potential to express disease/disharmony in many unique ways. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can work to reverse or switch off these expressions, adapting a new set point for the body as a whole. This process is completely different for everyone, and may take more or less time depending on the persistence of the condition or time spent in the state of disharmony.
During a treatment, Gavin enables an individual to gain deeper awareness of the root cause of their disharmony. Time is taken to establish a practitioner-client relationship to create trust and achieve lasting resolutions. Gavin has a special interest in treating arthritis, skin conditions, seasonal allergies, and all types of musculoskeletal pain and imbalance.
In his spare time, Gavin enjoys nature walks and hikes, practising yoga and meditation, and
experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
